As organisations face growing pressure to demonstrate credible action on biodiversity and nature positive commitments, the IUCN Academy is launching a new Professional Certificate designed to help individuals and organisations turn ambition into measurable impact.
Starting on 26 May, the Professional Certificate in Strategic Nature Positive Action: Leveraging IBAT and the IUCN RHINO Approach will equip participants with practical tools and science-based methodologies to assess biodiversity risks, prioritise interventions and align organisational action with global frameworks such as TNFD and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
A key feature of the programme is its focus on hands-on application of IBAT alongside the IUCN RHINO (Rapid High-Integrity Nature-positive Outcomes) approach. Participants will work through real-world case studies, guided exercises and an individual project to develop actionable Nature Positive strategies.
The course is delivered by expert trainers from IBAT and IUCN, along with pioneering organisations Anglo American and Suzano, bringing together leading expertise in biodiversity data, risk assessment and Nature Positive implementation. Through six live online sessions and self-paced learning modules, participants will gain practical experience using IBAT to identify biodiversity risks and opportunities, while learning how the IUCN RHINO framework supports measurable, science-based decision-making.
Designed for sustainability professionals, ESG and risk specialists, financial institutions, government representatives and conservation practitioners, the programme aims to build the technical capacity needed to translate biodiversity commitments into credible action.
